Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. The scriptural emphasis on a four part geographical approach to Global Outreach communicates two important facts:
- A foretelling of the historical expansion of the church in the first century, and
- A model for Global Outreach in the local church today.
A single, overarching vision and philosophy of ministry guides involvement in our four focus areas. The unique characteristics of each of the geographic focus areas are important and influence how our vision and philosophy of ministry are implemented.
Jerusalem
- Geographically near (within the sphere of influence of the local church)
- Same language /culturally near
- Same culture ministry by the local church (local church ministries)
Judea
- Geographically near (outside the sphere of influence of the local church)
- Same language / culturally near
- Same culture ministry requiring partnership with those outside the local church (same culture ministries)
Samaria
- Geographically near
- Different language and/or culturally distant
- Local cross-cultural ministry (home missions)
Ends of the Earth
- Geographically distant
- Different language and/or culturally distant
- Foreign cross-cultural ministry (foreign missions)
